November

BISCHOFSWERDA, SAXONY

  • ... Without our realizing it, the ship [Baltara] stopped at Danzig at 10:00 P.M., as we [Gerhard Jacob Schellenberg, August 26, 1871 - June 29, 1962] were told it would. Krausen [Friedrich Wilhelm Krause, January 18, 1897 - December 9, 1983] in Bischofswerden [Bischofswerda], Sachsen .....[For a longer account, click below]

H. William (Bill) Krause  - "Willy" - Six Years Old

[Wearing probably his mother's choice of proper school outfit (a sailor suit) that included a leather lunch satchel and book-bag on his back. Perhaps a formal portrait for his first day at school given the goodie cone (Zuckertüte" filled with sweets, etc.) that he is holding that was traditionally given to students on their first day  of class to ease them into their new environment.
