JULY, 1972
Lynda and I arrive in Sydney in July, with Lupines fully in bloom everywhere, where at Louisbourg I took up my job as Historian.
Until we found lodgings in Sydney, we suffered through a very hot July staying at the Wandlyn Inn Motel on King's Road.

AUGUST
RENTED
Rented 61 Tain Street - Residence was owned by Dr. W. A. Ormiston, 182 High Street, Sydney
First rent paid: August 15, 1972.
SEPTEMBER
Lynda and I joined the Film Society in September, 1972.
1972
- 1976?TUPPERWARE PARTIES
Lynda was unable to transfer from Bell to Maritime Tel and Tel because their was no agreement between the two to do so. So, Lynda continued with her Tupperware parties from her Ottawa days, all around Sydney, that included Louisbourg. She was extremely active until she gained employment with Le Brignolet (Ken Tutty owner-c.1977- c.1998).
1972
- c. 1990CHRISTMAS VISITS TO ONTARIO
Between 1972 and c. 1990, for Christmas, we generally visited with our families and friends in Ontario for several weeks. We usually flew or sometimes drove. Afterwards, until the arrival of the Covid-19 precautionary period (2020-2022 so far), we generally celebrated New Year's (and opened Christmas presents that we brought) with the Piechas on the mainland.

OUR FIRST SET OF CATS ARRIVE
Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20, 1974 an unexpected severe windstorm took down the tree in the front yard, and thus the power to the house. At the time we were in Baleine with Bob and Babs Morgan, (with Mac, a small Cairn Terrier), admiring the waves where the wind nearly blew the dog away!

CAPE BRETON OILERS GAMES
I attended the majority of all games over the years, having season tickets for the same seat all during that time. Without exception, I walked to and back from, always arriving early enough to take in the warm ups. During intermission, I read technical manuals related to my work at the Fortress, like setting up of a computer, networking, and designing databases based on the Inmagic backbone.
What a loss it was when they left the city
A shout out to Connie Morrison who sold the 50/50s tickets.

donation, our dining room set (table, chairs, buffet and hutch) (which we
purchased in April, 1983, from World Wide Antiques then visiting in Sydney) to Judy Ribble and her nephew Jerry Ribble in Wheatley, Ontario. Shortly thereafter I converted the dining room

JEAN GOLDHAWK
Obituary of Jean Goldhawk
Dorothy Jean Goldhawk formerly of Ridgetown passed away peacefully on
December 29, 2023 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in her 75th year.
Fondly remembered by her family, Dwane (Jake) and Brenda Goldhawk, Anne and Vern Inglis, Ted and Juli Goldhawk, her nieces and nephews, and by many good friends and caregivers who have been so supportive of her- many thanks to you all from her family.
Special thanks also to the dialysis unit and other staff at the Chatham hospital, and the staff at St. Angela’s Meadow Retirement Lodge.
Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Dorothy Goldhawk.
Jean’s career included work in the advertising field in Toronto, at Southwestern Regional Centre, and for the federal government as a Service Canada Benefits Officer until her retirement.
Jean (also known as Dorothy or Dee by some) was loved for her great sense of humour, her strength of character in fighting for what’s right, and her long lived friendships and generosity to others.
At Jean’s request there will be no visitation. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11:00am. Interment will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
