ROSS, James Ronald 'Ron'
February 3, 1934 - October 13, 2017
Ron was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and so it was only fitting that he passed away on Friday the 13th. Beloved husband of Louise (nee Mathies) for 62 years. Loving father to David (Pam), Cheryl, Brian (Chantal), Marlene Buis (Mark), Patricia, and Beverly. Loved by his 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Robert and Lottie Ross and sisters Audrey Ulch and Joyce McPherson. Fondly remembered by many family and friends. As a teenager, Ron worked for Roy Bavidge, Supertest, where he received his Auto Mechanic's license. Ron and Louise then took over the Mathies family farm, an apple orchard in Olinda, where they raised 6 children. During the winter months, Ron worked at Fox and Neal as a mechanic in Ruthven. Once the farm was sold, Ron was employed as a mechanic at Point Pelee National Park where he retired in 1997. Ron enjoyed coin collecting, playing harmonica and racing motorcycles in his early years. He was one of the original members of the Erie Ramblers Motorcycle Club (ERMC), founded in 1954. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and going on trips with Louise well into their retirement. The Ross family would like to thank the wonderful and friendly staff at the Sun Parlor Home for taking great care of Ron during his time there. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 14 Russell Street, Leamington (519-326-2631) on Wednesday from 1pm until time of the Memorial Service to Celebrate Ron's Life at 3 pm. Rev. Olav Kitchen officiating. Memorial donations, made by cheque, to the Sun Parlor Home for Seniors would be appreciated
