To Carsel William at Boston and Lodged and mr  moer
and on the 15 about one of ye Clook the Compnay a Riveed at Sayed Carsel
Nothing Meteral happning, till ye 24 when five Compnays belonging to
Coll Thomas Regiment Imbarked onboard ye Transports and a Ship 
a Riveed at Boston; the 25 a Ship and two Snows all from New-york A 
Rived at boston Cloudey and rain and windda; the 26 fair weather
the27 the wind at Soth and Cloudey, the 28 flyeing Clouds ye wind at N-East 
the 29 fair the 30 fair and we went from ye Carsel to piont Shirley for 
to Joyn Coll Regiment their and we wear obliged for to Lodg in a 
Sail makers Loaft, all the time the Compnay Stayed their

The 5 winday and rain, and the feary booat over Seet and 3 men was

and I mounted guard the first time, the 7 wind and rain.

a Ship had Like to have run us down as ye Ship Latow 
the 17 fogey wethear the wind at E-N-E and we Saw a Ship to 
Leeward and ye Commedoar went down and Spoak with hir

The18 fogey with rain and a bird Leitt on the Ship four yard 
which is a sign of a Storme and in the night we Lorst ye fleat. 
the19 afogey and rain the wind at East N - E. 
the20  fair weathear and we Saw a Ship ahead and a nothear 
on the weathr bow and Spoak with them and a nothear. 
the21 we made the Land and Stood of to Sea that night and 
Saw three Ships &., the22 fair the wind at N - E. 
the23 fogeay in the morning and a boute the brake of day 
the Ship got into a body of lee and it was with much Labeour 
that we got Clear of it. And we Spoak with a Ship arfterward 
who was in ye Ice two hours in the night, And the New-york 
fleat Came up with us - 25 or 26 Sail of Ships and others. 
And as we wear Standing for ye Land our boaseon went forward 
to git the anchor reday for the Capt talked of Comeing to anchor 
In the bay and as he was fiting it he fell over and was drowned.
His name was Gorge Smith And we also Spoak with a Sloop that 
had Lorst one of hir whail boats and one man and had an-
nothear Sick of a feaver. 
the24 fair the wind at west and the fleat a Riveed at Louisbourg
in the morning; the25 fair and I went onboard Capt - - 
Crowninshild at ye N-East harber. 
the26 fair in the morning but rain in the arfter noon.
the27 rain and fogey and Several guns was hear in the bay and
it was throught there was an Ingagement. But it was not for one
of the Ships Came in and they only fireed to answar Each other.
the28 rain and foge and the Ice came into ye harbyer.
the29 rain & the30 fair in the morning but rain arfterward and
Genral Lectsion at Boston.
the31 fair and I was on Shoare. And that was the first time I was
on Land arfter I Left ye Carsel and S S was with me and We
went all round the Citey. and five Line of Battel Ships came in
and teen others Ships, and 2 Sloops and 2 Shoner and one brige.
                                                            Rear End the month of may.
  

       June      

  
The 1 Rained all day veary hard and. we all Disimbarked from
onboard ye R argile and Landed at the N - E Harbyer and marched
up to the Citey.. And the Regiment was drown up by the Barricks
that was burnt by the English, and we Stood in the rain for
the Space of fouer hours. And then we went to old Barricks whear
Brages Granedars went from.
the 2  rain and we Shifed and went into new barricks.
      3 fogey in the morning but fair in the arfter noon and
one of our Ships went out arfter a french Ship.
The wind at west, the 4 fair and parte of the fleat Sailed and
their was a talk that ye french fleat was Seen of but for the
         truth of it I Cannot Say - and we Reseved our Biliton
money which I ought to have had a month before.
the 5  fogey and rain the wind at S- w and Some of the fleat Came
In a gain, and one mr Chatman was Chose Sargt in our Compnay.
the 6  fogey and rain and I mounted gard in the Citey and a
Sloop Came in, the 7 fair ye wind at wt and three Ships went out
from hear and 4 Ships and Sloops 2 Came in.
the 8  rain the wind at Et and a man was pickoted.
the 9  rain ye wind at S - E and the Colln Sloop went a Shore.
the 10  fair and I was upon king work.
      11  fair the wind at w        the 12 fair the wind at S - W.
      13 rain the wind at East and a Reinforcement Belongin
to our Regiment a riveed hear, and 300 that was going up
the River. And five men Came in hear in an open boat
which was all that was / Saved of one hundread, allthoe Eleven Got
into ye Boat and the rest dieed of         hunger and Coald.
the 14  fair and ye news Came that ye Raft broak in and one of
the men was drowned that went out in an Escout Commanded by
Capt. Gidding on ye 12 and a nothear was Left Sick about 25 miles of
from the garsion. And I went into the King works at one Shilling pr day.
the 15  fair and Some wesels Came in { the 16 rain and foge and
20 men went out for to bring in the man that was Left Sick
of the Escout, the 17 fair the wind at west and 21 Ships Snows and
Brigs and 4 Shonner and Sloops all a Riveed hear and Capt Gidding
Came in with his Escout { the 18 Cloudy the wind at west.
the 19 rain the wind at wt. A Ship Came in hear.

The 20  fair and two Ship a Riveed hear. Thp  wind at west.
      21  fogey but no rain, A Grate talk but nothing in it.
      22  fair the wind at S-W and a Shoner and a Sloop a
Riveed hear from Boston { the [23] fair wind at w and a Sloop
and a Shonear  Sailed from hear & the the 24 fair wind at S-W.
the 25  fair ye wind at S-W and an wesal a riveed hear from
Boston N-E by which we had news that a grat number of
wesals wear Lorst in a Storm ye 5 lnstant and much hurte was
dune to ye Corn, also that one 1000 men was Raising for to Come
to Louisbourg and that ye Regilers wear going up the river.
the 26  winda and flyeing Clouds and rain wind at n-W
and a wesal a riveed from N-york.
the 27  fogey the wind at west and Several wesal went out of hear
And a reglear hanged himself who Belonged to worbton Regiment. 
the 28  rain and two wesals Came in hear.
the 29  fair weather ye wind at west and Capt Elkons a Riveed hear
 from Salem, and two Shonnears a riveed hear from Boston and
a Sloop. And my Chist Came in Capt Elkons and I was onboard
the brig but did not git it on Shore.
      30  fair ye wind at E-W and Iwas onboard Capt Elkons and his men
went and Swep for the hanchor and Cabel that they Shiped the day
Before and I was with them but did not find it. And a Sloop Came
in hear from boston, and a Shonnear and a Ship from Hallefacts.

The 1  fair weathear ve wnid at west and I got my Chist on Shore
and tow Shonnears Came in hear.
       2 Cloudey and rain the wind at E and two wesels Came in hear.
       3 rain ye wind at S - and the fleat a riveedfrom Iarland 
with provisions for this Garsion, and thear was also
Intared Hear a Capt of a Ship, the aforesaid fleat Consised of
teen Sail.
       4 fair and a Shonear a riveed hear & one Stone was whiped 25
Strips. He was the Same who offended at
point Shirley but their [ is ] no Spair hear of ye whips.
  

      Jul y      

  
The 5 fair the wind at S-E.
       6 fair and I was taken Sick, the 7 fair in ye morning
but Cloudey in the arfternoon and two men was drownded of
by the Ileland Battarey. Tbe wind blew hard and ye boat turn over
        8 Cloudy and tow men was drowned in the harbyer who 
Belonged to a Command of men going to Spanish river. And the 
Ship Sailed. The Comand and Consised of 40 men.
        9  fair the wind at West, the 10 Cloudy and fogey and a
Shonr a Sloop ariveed hear from Cascobay and two Ships 
from N-york but no news by them as I can understand.
      11 rain wind at West, the 12 two Sloops Came in hear. One was 
from marbelhead Capt Read by whom I had a Leter from 
my brother, the 13 a Sloop Came in from St Johns.
      14 fair and a man was Confined for Steiling 20 yards of 
Cambrick.
      15 fair and a Ship of war a riveed hear from London but Larst from 
Verginay, and a Sloop from boston and two Shoners arived hear.
      16 fair and two wesels Came in hear from New-England.
      17 fair and two Snows and a Sloop a Rived hear from Boston
by which we wear Informed that Genral Amherst was to Cross
the Lake in 4 days & the 18 fair the wind at West.
       19 fair ye wind at S-W and a Snow a Rived hear from the 
St alarance by which we wear Informed that Genral Wolf was 
Landed and In Landing he only Lorst one man, and five In 
Crosing a river, and that he had got within gun Shoot of ye Citey. 
And also that Borth armeys was within Seven Days march of Each 
othear he and gnrl amherst and ye french in the midel.
       20 fair and a Sloop Came in hear, the 21 fair and a Sloop Came in 
hear from boston.
       22 fair and all ye ordly Sargents and Corprls Belongin to our Regment 
was Confined, and I was at Gabarows Bay and a Ship Came in.
       23 rain ye wind at E-S-E and two Shoners Came in hear.
       24 rain ye wind at West, and three men was whiped 
two hundred Each, the 25 rain and foge wind at West.
  

        July      

  
The 26  fair and two Sloops and one Shonear went out from
hear, and John Cox Joyned us in the King's works, I
also Bought me a pair a Leather Briches.
      27 fair and a Ship a Rived hear from Hallfacts and a Sloop
a Shoner from Bosten with Catell, a Snow from Spanish river
and two Shonnoers from marbelhead.
       28 Rain. A Sloop a Snow a Rived hear from Boston in which
the Chaplain to our Regment Came, and the Cheaf Dr.
       29 fogey and rain.
       30 fair and Several weseals a Riveed hear from Difrant
places but no news by any of them.
       31 fair wethear and Length of time brings forth all things
for So far is Spent and but Litel dun I think.
Only flying News from time to time, and I have Reason
to bless God that I have Lived to See Somuch of ye time
Expended in the Campain of this Year. And if We git [ ? ]
this year I think we Shall be un Wise if we Come hear
again to Sarve Either king or Countrey. But it dost not
Seme Likley according to the News from Quebec for they
proseed but Slow, and i think it is veary propal We
Shall be hear an other Campain. And if So We Shall 
Be Called old Soilders by that time as Well as Bad
Rougs and Iasey fellows for that is Said of all them
who Sarve Ether King or Countrv now a days -----------------
  

     August   

  
The 1 fair and Several wesals Came in hear from
       2 New England but no news by any of them for they Say
       3 that their is no news from the westward Consarning
the armey their with genral amherst.
       4 fair and Ship Came in Hear, the 5 fair ye wind at W
and our Chaplain priched his first Sarmond at Louisbourg and
his text was in the first Chapt of James and 27 Vers.
        6 fair and nothing Strang, the 7 fair.
        8 rain and I Reseved two Leters from home, by a marbelhead 
Shoner, the 9 fair. A Shonr Came hear from New-beary by
which ye News Came that Ticondergo was taken and that 
the English Lorst only 18 men in ye fight.
       10 fair. The privetear Sloop returned hear from St Johns
In which Crows they fell in with ye french and Indans and 
 a fight in Sueed which larsted foure hours and we had Eleven men
wounded. It was in a harbyer Called pipetoo.
       11 fair. The other priveter Sloop Came in which went in Compny
with ye fore menched Sloop and they wear in the fight and
they Lorst their guner, and had 13 men wounded and a
Sloop a Shoner from N-England which Confearmed ye News that
Ticondergo was taken. Also one hundred and fiftey heighe Landers
arived hear from N-york and Landed. They Encamped out Side of
west gate for their was no room in ye Citey for them.
       12 fair the wind at West. A Sloop Came in from Boston, and
a Shoner from marbelhead with Catell.
       13 fair and ye Cannon and regiments fireed Reicoying for the
taking of Ticondergo, and David fealt got in hear who had been
takenig by the french the thursday before at Canson. And the french 
Striped them of Every thing Except one Chist one gun and the things
they had on as I under Stand, the 14 fair ye wind at west.
       15 fair ye wind at S-W and two men was whiped Each 200.
A Sloop went out from hear, the 16 fair and Seven men was whiped
       17 fair. A drumb whip one 100.
       18 Cloudy and a man whipt 300 for braking into a house.
  

     August     

  
The 19  rain in ye morning , but fair in ye arfter noon and
Sixteen Shoners and Sloops Came in from ye Coal mines.
       20 fair and one Ship a brigen and a Shonear went out from hear
for to go up the river to the fleat. A Shonr arived hear from
Boston which brought ye news that Crownpoint was taken
but ye News is not Sarting as yet.
       21 fair and a Shoner arived hear from boston by which We had
the news that forte Nigarey was taken by genral Janson with the 
Lorse of 8 men and 15 wounded; 22 fair. A Shonir Came in from
Boston by whom the news Came that Crownpoint was Set on fire
by the french at ye approach of our armey.
       23 rain ye wind at S-W and we hear that Genral amherst was 
within three days march of Genral Wolf. A Ship a Sloop
Came in; 24 fair. Much news but all un Sarting.
       25 fair wthr. Much talk for Some davs Consarning a party
of maisons and Carpenders going up river but to day
It Came to a result and all was for us to give in our tuls
Every night. Two men whiped Each 200.
       26 fair, 27 fair and a Shoner a rived hear from ye river
by which the News Came that genral wolf had burnt Ye Citey 
of Quebeck all most all down and that the french had Left the
[ city ] I and was Intrenched. And they did desine for to give our pepole
a fild fight. And the English had Lorst 50 men and 300 wounded 
and ye french are Sixteon thousend Strong.
       28 fair wether the wind at west and tow wesels Came
 in hear. 
       29 fair in ye morning and rain in the arfter noon wind at S-W.
       30 fair and a Shoner Came in hear.
       31 fair. A Shonnoear a rived hear, a grat talk and
much News but all unsarting. Thus ends the month
of august but I wate to hear the Seartinty of the news
that is now Going hear.
  

         September       

  
The 1  fair. A Sloop a rived hear from boston.
       2 fair and a Shonnr Came in from ye fleat up ye river which
Brought news that Genral amherst Could not JoynGenral Wolf
because of  ye prisners he had. It was through that Wolf would
make a genrenl atact on the french, the 3 fair,
       4  fair. A wesel Came in hear; the 5 fair.
       6 fair and we who was in the kings works wear Sent into the old
Barricks by our Lut order, and then we went to the Chief Engineer and
 he a Loued to us a Cook which we had not before so that Insted of
doing hurt it did us good for it was dune for Spite as I think.
       7 fair and a wesal Came in hear, the 8 fair the wind at West.
       9 fair and I went down to ye Ileon-Batrey. The Regiment was
drawn up to hear ye artkels of war in the arfter noon.
       10 fair on news Sarting, the 11 fair the wind at West.
       12 fair the wind at west and a weasel Cane in hear.
       13 fair and a wesal Came in hear from the river which brough
News that genral Wolf had beet the french out of their
Intrenchments by force. A Sloop a rived Hear in five weaks
from Ireland who brough news that ye English had gained the
wicthorey over the french in france, the 14 fair weather.
       15 fair and a wesle Care in, the 16 fair, and a partey went
out to ye block-house becaus Some guns was heard in ye woods. 
In ye eveing a Light-skie was to be Seen hear. A grat Commosion
there was in the heavens. An uncommon sight to behoald. 
       17 fair. A brigen Came in from Hallefacts but no news by them.
All ye ordlv Sargts and Corpls of our regiment was Confined 
for reglet of their dutey by order of ye town adgent nealls
       18 mordet weather, the 19 fair and I was taken Sick.
       20 we have no news at presant only wesals going and coming
       21 fair and worm weather.
       22 fair weather, the 23 fair and worm, But we may 
begin to Look out for a Cold Storm.
  

         September      

  
The 24 fair and a prise Shoner Was Sent in hear taken by  
Capt. Blake of Boston, who was Commander of a Compnay hear.
He was onboard a privatear Sloop belongin to this place, he
Command a partey on board Saided Sloop of 30 men.
       25 fair the wind at N-W and Cold and a Shoner Came in
from ye River St alarance which brough news that the
fleat was to Sail for home in fifteen daye arfter them.
       26 fair. Two Ships two Sloops and one Shoner Came in hear
from the river which are Sayed to be part of the pransports
that are to Carey home to New-England our regiment but
I doute whear it will prove So or no for every thing Seems
to be at a Stand hear. And I think we Shall Stay all winter
hear with in Stone walls well Lineed with Cannon all round.
       27 fair --------------
       28 fogey in the morning and rain, but fair in ye arfternoon
       29 Rain and a Cold Storm ye wind at East. No News
I think at Present but all is Still and Quiate.
       30 Coald weather hear. A grate talk of things unsarting
and thus time Spends a way, and So we Spend our days.
So the month Spends a way, and Cold weather is Comeing
on a pace which will make us to Look round a bout us
and put on our winter Cloaths and we Shall Stand in need
of Good Liquars for to keep up our Spirets in a Cold Winters
days. And we Being hear within Stone walls are not Likley to
Gitt liqours or Cloaths at this time of ye year and althoe we be
Englishmen Born ye we are debard Englishmens Iibertey.
Therefore we now See what its to be under marshall Laws and to Be 
with ye Regleurs who are but Litel Better than Slaves to their 
offecers. And When I gitt out of their peen I shall take Care

       October      

  
The 1  fair and a Shoner a rived hear from the River by which
the  News Came that Quebec is taken, and the french Lorst
1500 men in 15 minets in a fild-fight and 1500 more in
Storme made by our pepoll on ye Citey. And allso that  genral
wolf was wounded in Sayed fight of which he dieed, and
that genral mount-Carlm was Slain in ye fight.
And the English Lorst 600 men, the 2 fair ye wind at West.
A Shonor Came in from the river which Confairms ye News.
       3 fair and a Ship and a Shonear Came in hear.
       4 fair wind at Wt and two Ships and one Shoner Came in from
the River and two brigs one from New-york, and the other
from Bell-Ilee, the 5 fair and foure men went out for to git
wood a mile from ye Block-house and they wear way laied by
ye Indans who killed three out right and the other Came in a Live.
And the picket went out and brought in the deed, one haveing
Lorst his heed the others was Strip and Sculped. A Sad acedent. 
And a Capt with 40 men went In persute of ye Enemey. And
a Shonear Came in hear but no news by them I think.
       6 rain and fogey and two wesals Cane in hear.
       7 rain and fogey. the 8 rain wind at East.
       9 Cloudy and Cold rain, the 10 fair and a prise Sloop Sent in
hear taken from ye french by Ens  Woodbery who was 
Capt onboard a priveter Shonnor belongin to Genral 
whitmor of his place. Sayed prise was laden with 
Boards and Shingels taken first from ye English. Wind at wt.
       11 fair ye wind at west and the Boston frighet Commanded by 
Capt Benin Hallaway Esq a riveed hear with one brige and two
Shonnors and one Sloop under his Con-waay Ladon with
provisons and Live Stock, the 12 foge and rain and two Wesels
Came in, the 13 foge and rain wind at Sth-East.
       14 foge and Rain. A Wesale a rived hear from the river which
Confairmed the News the Quebeck was taken and that 
Genral Wolf was deed Seartenly Which is a Lose to ye English.
  

      October      

  
The 15 foge and rain ye wind at east, the 16 Cloudy and Windy at Eat
       17 rain hail and Snow, veary Stormey and high wind and a
wesal Came in, the 18 a Stormey rain wind at East.
       19 fair and 62 Cannon was fireed and all foure Regiments was
under arms and fireed Six rounds Each in way of Reioyeing
for the Reductsion of Quebeck.
       20 fair and two Sloops and three Shonnors Came in hear.
       21 rain wind at S-W and a Ship Came in hear.
       22 Cloudy and 21 Cannon was fireed for it was the Kings
Crown-nasion day and the Ships that Layed in the harbyer
also fired. A deteachment from our regiment Consisting of
one hundred and fifty Imbarked on boaird a ship bound for boston
       23 fair and two wesals Came in hear. The wind at S-W.
       24 fair and a Ship a Sloop Came in from ye river but on news 
by them Sarting. Some Say that Cenral amherst was 
Killed at mount-Royal and had Lorst 2000 men in ye fight.
       25 fair and a wesal Came in and it was keept as a day of 
thanks giveing hear, the 26 rain and hail and Snow ye wind W
and one brig one Shonnr and two Sloops Came in hear.
       27 fair and a Ship a Sloop Came in. And the Granedear 
Landed and their three regiment was under arms for to
Reseve theme with Joy for their Safte return from ye river.
       28 Rain. A Ship a Sloop Came in - and old Simson was
Drunk and we had a meary Carrant with him.
       29 rain and foge and I finished a Chimney on board a Shonnr.
       30 rain wind et N-W and a brig a Ship and a Shonnr a rived
hear from New-Engd. And the Ship Sailed for boston which
had the detechment from our regiment on board.
       31 hail and Snow ye wind at N-W and Squorly. And So
now our time is Come to an End according to Inlistment
But We are not yet gott home nor are not Like too.
  

         November      

  
The 1  Coald and windy. The Regiment was ordead out for to
hear what the Collin had to Say to theme as our time was out
and we all Swore that we would do no more dutey hear. 
So it was a day of much Confusesion with the regiment. 
       2  Clear and Cold wind at N-W and ye regiment was turned out
for dutey. And we all Stude to it that we would not do any dutey
at all, for which we all was Sent to the Guard-House, prisnors.
But my-self and three more wear released becaus we belonged 
to kings works. And there was a Leter read to ye regiment 
which Came from the governor and Council which informed 
us that we wear to Stay hear till the first of december 
or till we have news from Genrl amherst which I hope will be
veary Soon for our Redemsion from this Garsion.
       3 fair morning- but rain in the arfter noon. And ye regimt
was turned out for to heare their doom for denying their
 dutey and for Sending in a round robing to ye Colln desireing
of him to git us Sent hme according to Inlistment at home 
 which they Say was muiteny. But it was all forgave by the genrl
and a deteachment of 140 Imbarked on board the Ship olver
a transport bound to boston, _______  _______  _______ ______
and the Reglers regiments was drawn upon ye Grand prade.
So was our regiment all but the prisonres and they wear
Brought up by foure files of men and placed in ye Center
and ye genrl made a Speach to theme. And ye artkels of war was
Read to us and thene ye Leter that Came from boston and then
the Colln made a Speach to us and tould us that we was for 
to Stay one month more at Least or more if wornted.
