I was born in Salem In New-England in ye year 1738 In June the 22 and I Liveed with farther untill that I was almost one and twenty year of age and I was brought up vearly Carefulley and tenderly by my parrents and they to me gave Common Larning as is useal for parrents to do by Children, under their Care and as their had bean war betwen the Crown of England and France by which reason men was veary hard to be Raseed in New England I then willingly Inlisted in the Service of my King and Cunteary in the then Intened Experdision a gainst Cannadey in Capt andrew Giddings Compnay In a provenchal Reigment Commanded by Colln Jonathan Bagley Esqr in the year 1759
the fleeat Sailed from nantarsket road may 15th and in Stied of Going to Cannadey the reigment went to Louisbourg in which Garsion we Landed the first of June and their Stayed Till the first of november whenby ye order of genral whitmore Commander their in Cheaf a deteachment from our Reigment of 450 was Sent home to Boston and the remainder Stayed till Releved by an nother reigment
and So we Stayed all winter which was hard as we Weare only Inlisted for Six months by a procklmasion isued foreth By his Excelency Thomas pownall ye Govenor; and as was Sayed we wear to be dismissed by the first of novmber or as much Sooner as his maiestys Service would admit and now I think it time for to give my reader my Journal after the best mannear thatI can and what is a miss I hope they will overlook and 1 hope God will bless all the peple of New England whear at home or abroad, So no more but I remain yours .
