LOUISBOURG INSTITUTE WEBMASTER NEWSLETTER
2005, Issue 1
Latest News
New Partner ~ On June 1, 2005, the Fortress Louisbourg Association/Association de la Forteresse-de-Louisbourg officially partnered with the Louisbourg Institute of /L'Institute de Louisbourg de Cape Breton University and its stated mandate. In fact, last June, 2004, the Association had already begun this process when it partially underwrote the cost of the new Institute server, and whose help the webmaster had acknowledged in his newsletter of 2004, Issue 3. The current partners are as follows:
(1) Cape Breton University
(2) Fortress Louisbourg Association/Association de la Forteresse-de-Louisbourg
(3) Krause House Info-Research Solutions
In 2003, Krause House Info-Research Solutions began to examine the "French and Spanish Archives, 1763-1841." also known as the "St Louis Archives" and described in the Issue 5, 2003 newsletter. Owing to the unexpected slowness of the interlibrary loan system between the Fortress and the University of Missouri, that work was not completed until this year. The results can be examined at http://www.krausehouse.ca/krause/StLouisFrSp.html .
The webmaster researched and published on June 12, 2005, "Selections from Bibliothèque Nationale, Arsenal 12,200, Archives de la Bastille, R - 37,399" to the Institute web at ../search/bastille.html . This microfilm, on temporary loan from Ottawa, held an enormous amount of new information which the Fortress might use one day in its interpretation programme. Seven other reels in the "Bastille" series will be ordered on interlibrary loan for examination. For certain Arsenal 12,480 and Arsenal 12,506 will prove fruitful as well.
