Katharina Wiens Bahnmann Dyck Regier, Our heritage: Remembrances of my life in Russia 1866-1895  (January 1, 1997)

This book contains a translation of the diary/memoirs of Mrs. Katharina Regier (1859-1936), who was born Berdjansk, South Russia to grain merchants, Nikolai and Margaretha Wiens, and died in Laird, Saskatchewan in 1936. She first married Heinrich P. Bahnman (1852-1906) in 1877 and lived for a little while in the village of Rudnerweide, Molotschna, then back to Berdjansk, a port on the Black Sea, and still later to a land estate at Schoenfeld, before immigrating to the United States in 1903. In 1904 they moved to homestead northeast of Waldheim, Saskatchewan, about 30 miles north of Saskatoon. This is where her first husband died in 1906. In 1912 she married Abraham Dyck. She became widowed again, and married Elder (bishop) Peter Regier of Tiefengrund in 1916. This book contains her recollections of life in Russia. Your grandmother Maria Krause and my father Henry Kornelsen also Helena Neufeld had the same mother Maria Voth. ... [David] Voth comes from that branch of the family. Interestingly I took this same picture with me to Manitoba in 2010 to try to find out about this family. One of my Enns cousins knew the family and put me in touch with them. I did find out a little bit and will look for it and send it on to you if you want me to  ... [David] Voth and I think his brother owned a car dealership in Winkler Manitoba and they used to come to Windsor and buy big truck cabs from Chrysler (I think it was Chrysler) In any case they often stayed overnight at our place in Wheatley. They would piggyback the truck cabs back to Manitoba.

Whenever a relative visited your grandparents, my parents, Tante Clara, Tante Lensch and uncle Cornelius always got together. I think I've told you that your grandma always gave me a chocolate bar as we were about to leave her place. Coffee Crisp, a favorite to this day".

• David Voth comes from a different lineage 1. His father Hermann H. Voth was a brother to Maria Voth. 2. Maria Voth married Heinrich J. Kornelsen in 1897. Your grandmother Maria and my father Henry were their children. This makes Hermann Voth an Uncle to your grandmother and David Voth would be her first cousin."

This family was part of an early immigration to Minnesota (1876)

Abram was born in Minnesota but died in Saskatchewan so somehow he came to Canada. His wife died in Manitoba.

When my father came to Canada he first went to Manitoba, Abram had sponsored him. When I was about 12 years old we actually visited descendants of these Voths in Manitoba. They had a coo-coo-clock that had been brought from Russia. Funny the things you remember.
