Particularly to SeaCopRimmer
I've got two main Rimmer lines, and I think my research is OK (well as OK as you
can be with all the Rimmers and Wrights etc).
Listed below are just the basic details of what I have.
5xG grandfather John - married 30th June 1752 to Isabel Blondell.
8 children christened 1754 to 1771
4xG grandfather John - married 25th Sep 1792 to Ann Wright.
9 children christened 1792 to 1815
3xG grandfather John - married 19th Aug 1816 to Nanny Wright
10 children baptised 1818 to 1841
2xG grandfather William - married 7 July 1843 to Alice Rimmer
4 children 1848 to 1867
1xG grandfather John - married 8 Jan 1883 St Pauls Birkdale to Annie Humphreys -
5 children 1883 to 1895
The other line is
5xG grandfather Richard - married 13 March 1769 to Jane Gallant
only one son found
4xG grandfather John - married 19 Jan 1789 to Alice Wright
12 children baptised 1789 to 1809
3xG grandfather Richard - married 7 Aug 1821 to Jane Halsall
5 children 1822 to 1837
2xG grandmother Alice married William as above in 1843.
I'd really like to get birth certs for all the recent children, but for some
there are just too many options in the indexes. I really need to go through the
parish registers for the baptisms. I did manage to find my 1xG grandfather's
fist marriage when I went to Preston recently which pleased me.
I've had help from the North Meols forum and wrote asking if there were any
descendants of John and Annie through their sons, William born 1895c and John
Richard born 1890. Ernest was born 1895 but died 1918. I know Annie was at her
son John's house in 1937 as her daughter in law Mary (nee Cropper) was the
informant on Annie's death cert. Sadly I didn't get any further with that
posting.
I've also been in touch with Joyce Otterstrom who has been helpful trying to
untangle some threads, on various of my North Meols lines.
I haven't asked any particular questions on this posting, as I thought I'd just
let you have a look at what I know. I do have quite a lot of gaps in my
knowledge and if the families do feature in your research I should love to fire
some questions at you. I know that the North Meols forum can be very helpful and
informative in that area.
Regards Degan
PS Sorry it's so long.

British Army WWI Pension Records
This database contains service records of non-commissioned
officers and other ranks who were discharged from the Army and claimed
disability pensions for service in WWI. These were also men who did not
re-enlist in the Army prior to World War II. Approximately 5 million men
served in the British Army in World War One (WWI) and these records contain
many of them, especially if they claimed a pension

NOTE:
Canada - Passenger Lists: June 1, 1921 to December 31, 1924
-
From June 1, 1921 to December 31, 1924, the Department of
Immigration and Colonization required that individual manifests (Form 30A,
RG 76 C1j) be completed and submitted to the immigration officers at the
ports of arrival, instead of the large sheet passenger list manifests
previously in use. A form had to be submitted for each passenger, including
children, except those in transit to the United States. The use of Form 30A
was discontinued as of January 1, 1925. From that date, the use of large
sheet manifests was reinstated.
-
For Rimmer: The following microfilm at
the Archives of Canada can be consulted - T-15172 (Riley, Rupert George to
Robbins, Ethel .... Surname groupings: Riley, Ri, Ritchie, Ri, Ro, Robb,
Robbins)
-
When consulting the Form 30A records, be aware that in most
cases each form was microfilmed with the backside first, followed by the
front of the form.
-
Please note that the Archives of Canada Passenger List
database is not complete (as of July 19, 2010). To date, it includes only
the following:
-

1919
- Kevin,
Thanks for the quick response...
I found Joseph Rimmer (s/n 2498097)U.S. Draft Registration card ]NOTE:
2498097 IS A CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force) REGIMENTAL NUMBER] so
always thought he joined the U.S. Army. Even though he was still a Brit. So
I had been searching all the European graveyard lists with no luck. Then I
got a lead on the Canadian Attestation Paper and got his complete military
file from the Canadian Archives. Included in the packet was his discharge
papers showing that he sailed from Liverpool on 09 Aug 1919. The name of the
ship can't be read but looks like IIT ???ONIA.
Mary Elizabeth, his wife was named Arnold before marriage.
She remarried in the early 20's. My wife's father was beaten by the
Step-father and finally farmed out to other family members when he was about
nine years old. He never saw his father again, nor bothered with his mother.
I couldn't find any passage back into the U.S. and he doesn't show up on
any death lists. There is Joseph Rimmer that I just discovered Santa Monica,
California that almost fits him, but not quite.
Are there Canadian pension records online? I was thinking he may have
stayed in Canada. He was a barber by trade if that would be of any help.
Well, I'm glad you took an interest in our problem. We're anxious to hear
your thoughts.
Best Regards,
Roy
out tree is RIMMER FAMILY TREE if you want to check it out.
- sorry...the s/n is his Canadian number.

Hello Roy
J. Rimmer, 2498097 arrived Halifax 17 Aug 1919 on board the Caronia.
He listed his wife as next of kin and his place of residence as Halifax, NS.
hope this helps.
First chance I get, I will pop into our Provincial Archives in Halifax to
see if he appears in any city directories.
Kevin
