Commanding Rovay Engineer's Corresspondence 1762-1885.
1 . ff. 1-36. 1761, 29 May. Report of the Particulars Of the Fortifications of Halifax. There is reference to lime around Spanish River in Cape Breton.
2. ff. 34-35. 1763, 7 Sept. L A List of Hat Materials, Carpenters, Smiths, Masons & Intrenching Tools are now remaining at Halifax, Sept. 7, 1763. There's reference to stone and coal from Louisbourg.
3. f. 90- 1799, 3 October. J. Stratton to Brig. Gen. Murray or Commanding Officer at Sydney. This concerns estimates for log barracks, at Sydney.
4. ff. 98-99. 1800, 9 June. W. Fenwick, Commander of Royal Engineers to Lieut. Gordon. Lt. Gordon is ordered to proceed to Cape Breton to make a report on the state of the military buildings, batteries etc.
5. ff. 102-103- 1800, 19 August. W. Fenwick to Captain Cox. Fenwick is enclosing a duplicate of Lt. Gordon's survey of Cape Breton, and a copy of the approved estimates which will serve as his authority 'for commencing whatever works are to be carried on.
6. ff. 186-187. 1804, 28th July. W. Fenwick to Lt. Gen. Bouryer. This mentions that there is only one other engineer to conduct all the engineering works in N.S., P.E.I. and Cape Breton.
7. f. 192. 1804, 4 Sept. W. Fenwick to Capt. Cox. There is reference to repairing the eaves at the barracks at Sydney.
