SANDRA FERGUSON'S CAPE BRETON CEMETERIES
Gillis Farm
Askilton
Long Stretch Road
Inverness County
Cape Breton Island
Nova Scotia, Canada
MACGREGOR CEMETERY
Unique Id
I8143 01 A
Cape Breton Location
Gillis Farm
Askilton
Long Stretch Road
Inverness County
Cape Breton Island
Nova Scotia, Canada
Name of the Cemetery
MacGregor
Name List
Gillis, Margaret Christena
Cemetery Remarks
MacGregor cemetery is Protestant.
This was a hard one to find (even Askilton is hard to find!) and we drove by it even though it is right beside the road. We were finally led to it by Mr. Davey MacPherson who also had some difficulty locating it. This is to explain why I never did get back to do a re-check. The cemetery is uncared for and is rapidly going back to forest. In very few years (perhaps even now) it will be completely hidden. The largest stone is down, but it is not broken, and may have inscription on the "down" side. The earliest marked burial was in 1890; the most recent in 1939.
