CAMPING DAYS
Between 1968 and 1972, we camped with a ground tent, with and without friends, in Ontario and Michigan
Our canvas tent was heavy, bulky, but effective.
Later, much later, we happily purchased a lighter version

General Historian (Parks Canada) - Contract Position: 1969/Permanent Position: 1970
Worked most of the time at the Public Archives of Canada on indexing the Hudson Bay Papers. The new Library and Archives Canada building had just opened two years earlier, on June 20, 1967, and was a wonderful place to work. In those days we - historians, archivists, and private researchers - all eat together in the cafeteria, where the food was cheap and very good!

While preparing to board the ferry to PEI, I received notice that my 1969 contract as an historian with the National Historic Parks and Sites Branch, Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, was now converted to a permanent position
1970 - 1971
All-time record snowfall off 444.1 centimetres (174.8 inches or 14.5 feet) set in 1971 and we were there. We received a survival certificate from the City of Ottawa (171.4 inches).
Winter ending March 21, 1971
TUPPERWARE PARTIES
c. 1970 - 1972
Lynda organized Tupperware parties (Bunny Bradshaw held the franchise) around Ottawa and even into Quebec. Sometimes I drove her if the party was somewhat far out. For example, if the party was in Quyon, Quebec, I would drop her off at the house and go fishing, and pick her up later. One of my fishing holes there was so good, that once I invited my good friend Nick Toth to fish there at Quyon with me during the day - he was stunned by the numbers we caught. It was then that I concluded that the lake must be stocked and we were lucky not to be caught!
Bunny Bradshaw / Bunny, Eric and Don Bradshaw
Lynda and Trisha Piecha (who had become good friends) while working together at Bell, decided to sell Tupperware, and in the process we all became good friends with Bunny and Don. We often had takeout meals at their home near the then considered wealthy Ottawa Qualicum neighbourhood, and sometimes sailed with them on their small motor boat. Once Lynda and I ended up on their boat at the Château Montebello Resort marina on the Ottawa River (where we paid to moor and had a BBQ on the wharf). Bunny had made friends with the chauffer of the nearby luxurious yacht owned by the company Le Cordon Bleu, and he gave Lynda and I a free chauffeured ride up to the private golf course where we played a round. Later, when we moved to Cape Breton, at New Year's, commonly celebrated at the Piecha's once we stopped flying to Ontario for Christmas visits, they would be on our call list.
ERIC'S MUSIC DAYS
c. 1970 - April 19, 1991
My music days ended in 1991 with my donation of my custom made speakers to Wolfe Piecha on April 19, 1991. Previously to that I gave him my Thorens manual turntable and my vinyl record collection. He is enjoying them all.
