APPENDIX TO THE TRANSCRIBED DOCUMENTS

CHRONOLOGY OF PROPERTIES GRANTED,
BOUGHT AND SOLD MENTIONED IN THE
TRANSCRIBED DOCUMENTS

(1) Halifax was divided into five divisions or wards, called Callendar's [Alexander Calendar?], Galland's, Ewer's, Collier's and Foreman's divisions, after the names of the persons who were appointed captains of Militia
(2) Each ward was large enough to supply one company
(3) Salter Street was the south limit; and Buckingham, the north.

Halifax consisted of three towns:
(1) The downtown area which had been set up in 1749
(2) "Irish Town" to the south [South Suburbs]
(3) "Dutch Town" to the north [North Suburbs]

NOTE: If the Water Lot is # 29, then the Land Lot behind would be Block Letter A, Lot No. 12

Note: To understand where water lot # 29 stood of the 44 numbered water lots:

#1 was Joshua Mauger [The Mauger Wharf stood at the foot of Jacob Street which would be later affected by the Scotia Square Development. Foreman's Division was eventually added as far as Jacob Street]
# 27 was Barnards Dock [Mathew Barnard?]
# 30 was the Street Bridge
# 43 was Brymer [Alexander Brymer]
Next after #44 was Jos. Gray,
and then finally, the Dock Yard
