Sydney 28^th. October 1786.

Sir,

The Designes meditated by the Turbalentor disaffected in Concurrence with many unjustifiable Proceedings of Others to impede the Settlement of this valuable Island and to defeat or check the Growth of its rising Importance and great National Utility and Advantage, have occasioned very ["great" struck out] serious Difficulties and Embarrassments, and, by combined ["attempts" Struck out] Efforts to prevent the Importation of Provisions for the Existence of His Majesty Subjects therein,

therein have, ["in Order" Struck out] (to effect some relief), compelled me to make over my Estate in Nova Scotia as well as the Plate and Impressions of my Work the Produce of more than Twenty years incessant anxiety and Labour. These Plates and Impressions are made over to M^r Sparrow (a Merchant of Halifax) in Security for Payment of Provisions supplied by him at my request, And it is agreed that he shall, on his Arrival in England wait upon you and the Board of Admiralty to propose a Preference for the Consideration of five thousand Pounds.

I beg leave therefore to entreat and I fervently

I fervently hope that thro' your kind representation of the Matter their Lordships may be pleased to order the Same to be kept at their own immediate Disposal for the Use and Benefit of His Majesty's Royal service. -
