[SUMMARY: Petition to Swayne, 1815: Petition on behalf of Samuel Sparrow on H.M. Council in the first settlement in Cape Breton, who was entitled to certain grants under Gov. DesBarres. John Edward Acres , Grantee, asks for six lot in block C, purchased by Sparrow from J. Rundel. Warrant to Survey: Lots 31 & 32, two acres each, near the Town of Sydney.]

To His Honour Liet Genl Swayne President of H.M. Council and Commander in Chief in and Over His Majestys Island of Cape Breton &c. ~ &c. ~ &c. ~

The Memorial of J.E. Acres the Representative of Saml. Sparrow formerly one H.M. Council of this Island who Rendered this gouvernement all the Assistance in his power and Furnish'd the Sundry Materials requisit for the Formation of this Infant Colony in its First Settlement and was its most Loyal Supporter who was entitled to grants of Land given him by govr Des. Barres, for those Services, ~ Requests you would be pleas'd to allow him to take up the said Lotts, as Intended to be given of 6 Lotts in Block C which was Clear'd Fenc'd and Built uppon by Mr Sparrow and was held in Possession Fifteen Years by his Tennant J. Rundel also No. 6 Block C with all Wright and Claim J. Rundel Sold to the said Mr. Sparrow as Memorialist can produce by the Bond and Mortgage. Your Memorialist, has brought for your Honours Inspection, as your Memorialist Intends Settling in this Colony Hopes your Honour will be pleas'd to give him the Wright he Justly Inherits and that your Honour will be pleas'd to do him Justice in this Business, and give him Sufficient authority to take possession of the said Lotts, as your Honour in His Wisdom shall deem most Expedient and Requists to have two acre Lots No. 31. 32 & 33  for the Convenience of the House before describ'd in Charlotte Street not having sufficient ground for his Convenience. And as in duty bound will ever pray. 

should be glad to have the Lot joining No. 31 East of Doblien Street, on the north by Meloneys arm so call'd and on the South by the Commones.

BY HIS EXCELLENCY MAJOR-GENERAL AINSLIE, Lieutenant-Governor, and Commander in Chief, in and over the Island of Cape Breton, and its Dependencies, &c. &c. &c.

To the Hon. THOMAS CRAWLEY, SURVEYOR GENERAL OF LANDS

 You are forthwith by Yourself or Deputy, to admeasure and lay out unto John Edwe Acres two lots of land not Lettered or granted or accorded near the Town of Sydney being Lots [?] 31 & 32 to contain 2 Acres each and no more and make due return into the Secretary's office, within Six Months from the date hereof, with a plot or Description thereunto annexed, as also to Certify the Nature and Quality of the said Lands; conformably to His Majesty's Instructions, and for so doing this shall be your Warrant
