Sir,
For the information of the v Commissioners for Auditing Public Accounts. I have to inform you that the Circumstances relating to the article in Mr. DesBarres Account of 100 lbs Flour and 60 lbs pork Charged therein £ 432. 2. 6 Currency, are as follows. The Meat amot is £ 397. 10 to which must be added 1. 6. 8 for Cartage making together £ 398 16. 8 H. Curcy is the Sum Received and no more; for the Insurance, and what regards that Article was charged upon presumptions, but as the Insurance was not Effected, He had Credit for so much, Also I gave Credit for the Commission, which concessions I made to obtain a settlement with him. I beg leave to remark that there are in those Accounts Several Insurances similar to the above.
I did not receive payment in any Special manner, for it was considered in the General Account, without & assigning any particular Bills to that Article
