                                                                          Cape Breton
                                                                          Sydney 28th. October 1786.

My Lord,

I beg leave to inform Your Lordship that Mr. Sparrow (a merchant of Halifax) having Supplied at my Request a Quantity of Provisions, when in extreme Difficulty of procuring) the same to preserve His Majesty's Subjects in this infant Government from perishing by Famine. I have for the Purpose of securing Payment therefore made over to him the Impressions and Plates of a Work in the performance of which Your Lordship knows with what Time I have spent a considerable Portion of my Life and Fortune, And that this [Cassion?] is made to that Gentleman upon the Condition that he shall on his arrival wait upon your

Right Honorouble Lord Viscount Haire

your Lordship's Board to Tender a Preference of the same for the Consideration of Five Thousand Pounds. ______

I must refrain on the Occasion to move Your Lordships Fealings, by enlarging on the Presence of my Situation and on the Cogency of the Reasons which have Urged me to this Expedient, And only beg the Liberty most humbly to impress my Wish that the Board of Admiralty, Whilst submitted for their Lordships Option, might judge proper to retain at their own Disposal these my Arduous and I presume, precious Labours for the Use of His Majesty's Royal Services, for which they were more particularly [distinetact?] and prepaid by me at a Great Cost to myself besides the Allowances granted

granted by the Public in Aid thereto. ~ I have the Honor to be with highest Esteem.

                                                                         My Lord

                                                                         Your Lordship

                                                                         Most Obedient and
                                                                         Most humble Servant
