His Excellency the Governor was pleased to lay before the Board a Letter from Mr. Samuel Sparrow dated the 27th day of April 1786 - which was read and filed and the opinions and advice of the Council requested thereupon -
Whereupon it was unanimously resolved that [p. 111] that Mr. John Wilkinson's personal Character and Conduct are unexceptionable and respectable but that the peculiar Circumstances under which he transacts Business and Trade on this Island are such as are incompatible with his holding a seat at this Board and acting as a member of His Majesty's Council of this island and therefore that his seat thereat be vacated and his name cease to be inserted in the List of members of the Council Accordingly ...
