TheHonorable David Mathews having informed the Board that once the arrival of the Ship Blenheim at Spanish River, on this Island, in the month of November 1784, Laden with Provisions and Stores by Government, for the use of the Settlers on this Island, a certain Tract of Land called point Edward was taken possession of

for Governments' use, and a Store House, Lime Kiln and other Buildings were erected therein at the expense of the Crown, as well for the reception of the Said Provisions and Stores, as for the accommodation of the persons who were to have the Care and Custody thereof. That at that time it was so taken possession of, there was a considerable quantity of cleared land, part of the said Tract which had been Cultivated and improved when the French had possession of this Island.
