.. On Tuesday evening last, in a violent S.E. storm, the brig Peggy, Captain Williamson, from Arichat, cape breton, owned by Mr. Forsyth, of Halifax, and consigned to Mr. Thomas Amory, of this town, was cast away on Lynn beach, and all the crew, consisting of 12 persons, perished, one only excepted. She had on board 3500 quintals merchantable fish; and was in every particular well found. Such was the violence of the storm, that she went to shivers immediately after she struck. Of the cargo, a great part was washed ashore; and near 2500 quintals saved. Eight of the bodies have been found, and decently interred. The preservation of the only survivor is remarkable. - He was ordered into the long boat to hang the tackle to her, at that instant a sea swept her and him from the vessel, and carried them both on shore. All the rest perished on board.
