Boston, November 29, 1742.
.... We hear from cape breton, that a large Spanish Ship from the West Indies, with a great Sum of Money on board, lately put in there in her Way to Old Spain; and there being a French Man of War in Port bound home, the Spaniard put his Money on board her, and sail'd in Company with her, under French Colours; which the Captain of his Majesty's Ship Dover, of 40 Guns, station'd at Canso, hearing of (before they sail'd) he went out to endeavour to intercept them.
And from the same Place we are informed, that a Fellow was lately broke alive upon the Wheel there, and afterwards hanged, for having cut the Throats of Seven Men who were out with him on a fishing Voyage. ...
