BACK

A non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1976 to promote and participate wherever possible in the activities of the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site in areas of interpretation, extension programs, training, archaeology and research. To financially support these initiatives, we operate the on-site concessions, comprising three 18th century style restaurants, a military bakery, a gift boutique at the Visitor Reception Centre and at the Fortress site.

We operate two very popular children's programs:

1) The Children's Animation Program is for children between the ages of 5 and 16, who are members of our Association. We provide these children with a positive learning experience of life in the 18th century through dressing in period costumes and participating in daily activities on site for a period of five days.

2) The Children's Interpretive Centre is for the children of visitors ages 4-8. This is a 2 hour program designed to provide these children with a positive learning experience of life in the 18th century through games, demonstrations, and tours.

The restaurants and bakery are open from June 1 to September 30. Inquire about reservations for groups during this period for daytime or special night time events. Call (902)733-3230 June - September; (902)733-3548 October - June; FAX (902)733-3046.

These concessions in addition to the gift boutique at the Visitor Reception Centre, are operated by the Fortress of Louisbourg Volunteer Association.
