FOR THE BIRDS

February 1991

By

Helen O'Shea

There is an updated version of Birding in Nova Scotia will soon be available at tourist bureaus and book stores. It records key locations in each area where birds are plentiful for observation. Cathy Murrant of Port Morien called for three locations in Louisbourg. The ones that will appear in the book are:

1. Havenside Road - bridge: Sea birds and shore birds on the harbour side. Kingfisher, ducks, cormorants, shore birds on barrachois side.

2. Gerratt Brook Barrachois: The open water on the harbour side across from the fountain at Peck's Store.

3. Fortress Barrachois: The open water at the south-west end of the harbour near the first gate to the Fortress.
