Holiday Greetings
At this time of the year it is important that we take time to reflect upon how fortunate we are to live in this country, and in particular in beautiful Cape Breton Island. It is a time to give thanks and to be especially appreciative of our families and friends.
Thanks to all of you for your efforts and commitment to the special places we are entrusted to manage for Canadians now and in the future. In particular I would like to thank the compliance training team of Gina Briand, Erich Muntz, Perry Lahey and Blaine Aitkens for the excellent leadership they have shown while delivering the training on compliance to their colleagues.
In many ways this has been a challenging year, as there were fewer visitors to welcome, and so less income to invest in our activities. On the other hand we have been successful in obtaining several million dollars to help with repairs to the Cabot Trail, and special funds for exhibit work at Cape Breton Highlands, Alexander Graham Bell and the Fortress of Louisbourg. As well we must be particularly grateful to our special partners, Les Amis de Plein Air and the Fortress Volunteers for helping us with work on the Jack Pine Trail and reconstructing the Dugas house.
Have a wonderful holiday as you celebrate this special time of the year with your family and friends.

Parks Canada's Calendars
Notice has been given that we will be receiving Parks Canada calendars again this year. They are due in the office by December 23rd and I will distribute them the first week of January.
Christmas Dinner
Our employee Christmas Dinner that has become an annual event took place on Tuesday, December 16th at the United Church Hall, Louisbourg. The turkey dinner was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves as you can see from some of the pictures taken (next page). As usual, Santa was in great form too!!!!
Presents were provided to everyone courtesy of our 50-50 draws and a collection of non-perishable food items and money were made to the Louisbourg Food Bank. Thanks to everyone for their support.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!!
