The 1936 General Society of Colonial Wars Monument (unveiled in 1939)
"Another memorial stone was erected in the year 1936 in the English Cemetery at Rochefort Point. This, too, was donated by the General Society of Colonial Wars and also through the efforts of Major Howland Pell, now Honourary Governor-General of the Society. This stone, in the form of a Memorial Cross, made of grey granite by the firm of John. D. Steele and Sons of North Sydney, who also made the Hospitalier Monument and erected the Replica Stone, was erected in memory of the New England, English and French soldiers, who gave their lives foe their country, 1745-1758."
It was unveiled on August 10, 1939 by R. A. Peters, Hon. Superintendent of Fortress Louisbourg Park.[Almon, Albert, Rochefort Point: A Silent City in Louisbourg, Glace Bay, Cape Breton, 1940, p. 11 and 12]
