THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF 18TH CENTURY LOUISBOURG
Microfiche Report Series 83, By Margaret Fortier, 1983, Fortress of Louisbourg

Part One - Louisbourg - The Land and its Utilization, Louisbourg Properties

 Properties - Louisbourg Environs

24. Jean Dubordieu - Nicolas Hamelin

LOCATION:

near barachois

DATE OF CONCESSION:

1717

SIZE OF PROPERTY:

1717 - 6 toises x 30 toises
1753 - 29 toises on east, 20 toises on north, 22 or 23 toises on west, 14 toises on south

BORDERS OF PROPERTY:

north - chemin de barachois
south - rue de fauxbourg
east - Rabasse
west - Magdelaine Hotellier

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

CHANGES OF OWNERSHIP:

pre-1737 - Dubordieu died leaving property in hands of widow and children
1753 - sold at auction, presumably to Nicolas Hamlin

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY:

The original concession was bounded on the west by Magdelaine Hotellier. In 1753 Dubordieu fils was on the western border with Hotellier's land to his west. It is likely therefore that Dubordieu ceded a portion of his land to his son. By 1753 Dubordieu.'s land was said to be much larger than original concession, even with loss of land given his son.
