1738
- part of property leased to Jacques
Aurieux for 3 years. Under this agreement
he was to maintain, feed and pay a labourer
at his own expense to clear 2 arpents of
land proper for planting grain. Both parties
would share the fruits of the habitation,
animal as well as vegetable. Seeds were to
be provided by the Brothers, including oats,
barley and buckwheat. They also furnished
cattle and poultry, and agreed to supply sheep
if desired. Each year Aurieux was to cut 50
cords of wood and take it to a place from where
it could be shipped to Louisbourg. He would
be paid the going rate for the wood, but was
forbidden to cut any other wood for any purpose
without the Brothers' permission.
