A recent research trip (August 13 to September 21, 2003) included a visit to Illinois and Missouri which uncovered some documents of interest to the Fortress of Louisbourg. Illinois and Missouri locations visited were as follows: Illinois State Archives (Springfield, Illinois); Lincoln New Salem State Historic Site (New Salem, Illinois); Cahokia Courthouse (Cahokia, Illinois); The Church of the Holy Family (Cahokia, Illinois); The Pierre Menard House (Kaskaskia, Illinois); Fort de Chartres (Illinois);  Kaskaskia Bell (Illinois); Cape Girardeau (Illinois); Missouri Historical Society (St. Louis, Missouri); and Sainte Genevieve (Missouri).
